Pol A. Mesina , Jr .

His humble beginnings brought his spirit to relish the simple joys in life like watching nature unfold before his eyes and absorbing the gaiety of neighborhood friends at play. Born on June 29, 1960, in Tondo Manila, Pol Mesina spent his childhood days helping his family by selling sweepstakes tickets in Quiapo Manila. His formal art lessons began in 1975, when he met Fernando B. Sena at the San Jose de Trozo Parish where he served as a sacristan at that time. It was not his first time to indulge in arts though. He served as an artist/reporter during his elementary days at M. Hizon Elementary School’s paper “Ang Tinig”, and during high school at Rajah Soliman High School’s paper “Ang Kalasag”. It was Sena who encouraged him to join art workshops. His early art classes include a scholarship grant in basic and advanced class in drawing and painting at the Children Museum and Library, Inc. His style in arts is a mixed impressionism and realism where his Landscape and Still Life were highlighted by various media. His painting, inaesthetic sense, “is an expression of life and its tonal values”. His lightings will uplift your soul. And his colors will enchant you, over and over again. Recently, Pol has participated by invitation, in the Pinto Art Museum’s Group Exhibits Sampayan Art Edition I “Connect with the Heart” on 21 to 26 July 2020 , “20/20” on Dec. 6, 2020 to Jan. 31, 2021 ,  Sampayan Art Edition 2 “Connect with your Heart” on May 2 to June, 2021. These Exhibits Displayed the new elements of pointillism & religious subject added to Pol’s style in the last 5 years. In February 2014, Pol was voted by founding members as Founding President of the newly formed ARTipolo Group, and as president in each of the following years by a membership that has grown to more than 80 Artists, serving a total of 7 terms to this date. Therefore, “An artist become an artist as man came to know his existence, where man and nature became one.” “Anyone can learn to paint. Art techniques can be passed on but painting perse is a gradual learning process.” “Painting is a therapy and reflection of ones personality.”
