EV penetration in the Philippines
According to the Department of Energy, the Philippine government aims 10% penetration rate for electric vehicles for road transport (motorcycles, cars, jeepneys) by 2040, a 5% aggregate energy savings from oil and electricity by 2040, and deploy applicable Alternative Fuel Vehicles for transport and non-transport sector.
As the electric-vehicle (EV) market continues to grow, various stakeholders are finding ways to hurdle technical mountains.
How solid-state batteries could revolutionize electric vehicles
Among the biggest issues of EV are batteries- their charging capabilities and environmental footprint of lithium-ion batteries. However, a new type of 3D solid-state battery developed in the Netherlands could enable rapid charging and power the next generation of electric vehicles, according to LionVolt.
Solid-state batteries has the potential to charge faster and contain enough power internal combustion engine cars even on fast lane of highways.
It would be a few more years before we revolutionize the car industry. But we could hope for a more sustainable one with the steps the country is currently taking.#
