LOS ANGELES — Luka Doncic and LeBron James delivered clutch performances to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 113-109 overtime victory against the New York Knicks on Thursday night. The win extended the Lakers’ winning streak to eight games, as they overcame a double-digit fourth-quarter deficit to secure the victory.
Doncic and LeBron Take Charge
Doncic finished with 32 points, 12 assists, and eight rebounds, including five crucial points in overtime. Since making his Lakers debut on February 10, Doncic has helped the team go 9-2.
Meanwhile, James scored the team’s final four points from the free-throw line and ended the game with 31 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists.
Brunson’s Big Game Ends in Injury
Knicks star Jalen Brunson had an outstanding performance with 39 points and 10 assists before suffering an injury in overtime.
Brunson twisted his right ankle and foot after making contact with Austin Reaves, with LeBron James close behind. The referees reviewed the play and called a foul on Reaves, allowing Brunson to make both free throws before limping off the court after the Knicks intentionally fouled to stop the clock.
Lakers Secure the Win in OT
With the game tied at 107, Jaxson Hayes made two free throws with 59.7 seconds left, giving the Lakers the lead for good.
James then sealed the victory by knocking down two more foul shots, after Karl-Anthony Towns was called for a loose ball foul when Miles McBride missed a jumper.
With this impressive comeback win, the Lakers continue their strong push toward the playoffs, riding an eight-game winning streak with Doncic and LeBron leading the way.
