The Return of Voltes V

For a generation, Voltes V was the most exciting anime cartoon ever shown on TV. Even before the famous line “Autobots transform and roll out” was spoken by the most recognizable character, Optimus Prime from the Transformers, there was “Let’s Volt In!” from “Voltes Fayva!” (Voltes 5).

Famous comedian Michael V posted the mega trailer of the GMA 7 reboot of his favorite series on his social media account. He was overcome by excitement and was thorough with his appreciation of the TV company’s amazing special effects and the accuracy of the scenes to the original shared in the trailer.

“Just finished watching the #VoltesVLegacy Mega Trailer, kinilabutan ako sa ganda!” Michael V said on his Facebook post.

After defending the GMA production to what he calls “yung mga nagpapa-cool at naggagaling-galingan mga ignoranteng bashers,”, he was quick to promote the new trailer to the “TOTOONG FANS ng V5”.

Interestingly, the original Voltes V was shown on the same network (GMA) before it was banned by then President Ferdinand Marcos, the current president’s father, for its harmful effects on children.

It has come full circle as GMA is bringing back the famous anime series to Philippine TV during the administration of Marcos Jr.

The updated anime series is called Voltes V: Legacy. Fans of the original anime were on social media to express their approval and the nostalgic effect on them of seeing the new trailer.

Fans are excited for the premiere of Voltes V’s return to TV. The dismay felt by its fans back in 1979 for missing out on the last four episodes of the series after getting banned by President Marcos has been replaced by sheer excitement and anticipation of its return.
