No Degree, No Problem: Check This Out if You Want to Level Up Your Career Goals

Start advancing your career without a college diploma because Indeed has got you all covered.

American-based employment website Indeed, which is known for its job listings, said the platform would help those who are not degree holders advance their careers through their new platform called Skill Connect.

The Skill Connect platform highlighted that it is “committed” to helping over 30 million job seekers by 2030 who are “facing barriers” to getting hired by focusing on “skill-based hiring.”

With the aid of the recently launched Skill Connect, job seekers without college degrees may now more effectively market their abilities and completed training courses to prospective employers.

“Promoting skills-based hiring is deeply connected to Indeed’s mission of helping people get jobs. Hiring based on skills rather than academic credentials will have a significant impact on helping job seekers facing bias and barriers find work,” Abbey Carlton, Vice President of Social Impact at Indeed, said in a report.

“By launching Skill Connect, Indeed and our partners will help match employers with job seekers who have learned new skills through their training programs. With over three million employers hiring on Indeed globally, we are well positioned to help even more people get jobs through Skill Connect,” she added.

Why cultivate your skills?

According to Indeed, candidates who are eager to acquire new abilities and contribute to the success of the company are frequently sought after by employers. You can demonstrate to your employers that you are capable of succeeding in a more senior position by taking on new tasks and concentrating on what may be of the most benefit to both you and your team.

Applicants can either learn from a mentor, invest in their strengths, plan ahead, and challenge themselves in order to bolster their skills, it said.

Take advantage of conferences

Attending a conference or workshop can provide you with the opportunity to not only gain new information or skills but also meet new individuals with whom you can build a network. It’s possible that your employer will offer to pay for the costs of you and your team attending a conference or trade fair to represent the firm. Depending on the sector in which you work, you might also learn about new technologies that could be of use to your team or meet prospective clients, it said.

Soft skills matter

Indeed also noted that those applicants, even if they are not degree holders, can take your soft skills practically anywhere, to almost any position, in almost any business, and they may help you advance into a leadership or management role. A significant number of companies are looking for applicants who are able to work well with a diverse range of individuals and have strong communication skills.

You could look into joining local clubs or enrolling in weekend classes that focus on communication, leadership, management, listening skills, or time management. You can also discover books or online lectures on these abilities, which you can review in your own time when you have the opportunity to do so.

Work it out, bestie. Good luck with your job hunting.
