In television programs, it is expected that clashes may arise due to varying viewer preferences. These preferences are largely influenced by the type of program content presented to appeal to a larger audience share and may even be initiated by episode teasers.
Furthermore, in the digital era, fans’ interactions with television content extend beyond traditional viewing, a completely different power dynamic. This gives audience more freedom to create and interact with content, which makes it more authentic and, arguably, more engaging.
In the Philippine primetime television program, the battles between Voltes V: Legacy and Batang Quiapo were analyzed. This was conducted during May 5, 2023 to May 22, 2023 by Capstone-Intel Corporation, a private research and intelligence agency.

During primetime hours, two television shows from competing networks, GMA and ABS-CBN, are aired. ABS-CBN’s action-comedy series, Batang Quiapo, was introduced on February 13, 2023, and was broadcasted daily for five consecutive days. In an effort to race with ABS-CBN, GMA developed their own offering, Voltes V: Legacy, which debuted on May 8, 2023.
The methodology utilized in the research entailed the implementation of publicly accessible social media data sourced from the Philippines. It involved a comprehensive sentiment analysis of data points, including reactions, channels/influencers, and word clouds. Also, the study included the quantification of posts, shares, reactions, comments, and engagement score. The research insights were derived from the analysis of content, channels, and sentiments.
The analysis of the Facebook performance of the keyword “Voltes V: Legacy” revealed that 811 posts related to this topic were identified from publicly available pages, between May 5, 2023 and May 22, 2023. The posts generated a significant level of engagement, with 60,783 comments, 17,853 shares, a total of 612,313 reactions, and an engagement score of 85,162.6. These findings suggest that “Voltes V: Legacy” is a popular topic among Facebook users, who are reacting positively to the posts and sharing them widely with a large audience.
Meanwhile, a 30-day observational study revealed that Voltes V Legacy garnered a total of 1,278 social media mentions on platforms such as Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube, while Batang Quiapo received 295 mentions.
Lastly, data pertaining to website comparison was also gathered and analyzed. The data collection period spanned from April 24, 2023 to May 21, 2023, during which a systematic scan was performed to ascertain the overall number of visits to the websites of gmanetwork.com and abscbn.com. The results indicated that the combined total visits to both websites were 9,061. Specifically, the website for Voltes V: Legacy received a 65.9 percent share of the visits, while Batang Quiapo received 34.1 percent.
