Forget King Kong, The Walking Dead could be 2023’s worst game

When Skull Island: Rise of Kong released in October this year, people were fairly certain that it would become known as one of the worst games of 2023.

However, just before the year ends, a new contender for worst game has swept in, namely The Walking Dead: Destinies, and gamers are concerned at what appears to be both low effort and low quality gameplay.

The Walking Dead: Destinies could be the worst game of 2023

The Walking Dead: Destinies is a third-person action-adventure which will allow players to relive the most iconic moments from The Walking Dead.

The game is intended to give players the opportunity to change the fate of some of their favourite characters, a power I’m sure everyone has wished they had at some point or other during the franchise’s history.

However, many fans of The Walking Dead universe are not as excited about the game as they should be.

In fact, the popular opinion on social media suggests that The Walking Dead: Destinies might turn out to be the worst game of 2023.

People aren’t hopeful that the game impress players on release

Upset users on Twitter, TikTok and Reddit have expressed their disappointment at what has been revealed about the game so far.

On TikTok, spectrexgaming shared a video comparing The Walking Dead: Destinies to Skull Island: Rise of Kong.

The video highlights how the cutscenes lack animation or movement, even in the facial expressions the characters are making.

One TikTok user commented: “TWD: Destinies would’ve been a cool game if it released all the way back in the early PS3 era for like $30.”

Another said: “It’s crazy how I thought nothing would top that Gollum game as worst game of the year just a few months back.”

It isn’t only the game’s appearance that is causing upset.

On Twitter, Shirrako stated that The Walking Dead: Destinies reportedly has a game-breaking bug on PS5 which prevents it from being finished.

Similarly, Reddit user ttas93 shared a list of disappointing issues which have arisen according to people who have already played the game.

These include the game missing key characters like Andrea, Amy and Ed, not having cutscenes which were shown in the trailers, and huge chunks of the story being missed.

With a high price tag of £40, it is yet to be seen whether or not fans of The Walking Dead are willing to look past the gameplay to experience the story for themselves.
