How to beat Nightingale in Alan Wake 2

Alan Wake 2 is full of formidable bosses, but you may be wondering how to beat Nightingale as he presents your first early challenge. Well, look no further, because we’re here to help.

Nightingale is the first major adversary you’ll face in the game, and he can be an incredibly tough fight, especially on the higher difficulty settings.

So, we’re here to provide you with everything you need to know about Nightingale and some of the best tips on how to beat him in Alan Wake 2.

SPOILER WARNING:
This guide may contain story spoilers, so be sure to proceed at your own risk to ensure details in the game remain a surprise.

Who is Nightingale in Alan Wake 2?

In Alan Wake 2, Robert Nightingale is an FBI Agent who disappeared in 2010 after proving to be something of an adversary to Alan Wake in the very first game. This time, however, he is a particularly scary corpse running around with a huge hole in his chest and a penchant for nudity.

Now, at the very start of the game, he has resurfaced (literally, from the lake) and is still as odious as ever. His murder (and resurrection) in the game sparks the events that lead Melanie Liburd’s Saga Anderson and Sam Lake’s Alex Casey back to Cauldron Lake.

As you go in search of Nightingale’s Heart, it will eventually lead you to the boss fight with him, which can be a tricky one if you go in unprepared.

How to beat Nightingale in Alan Wake 2

If you’re going to beat Nightingale in Alan Wake 2, you’re going to need to make sure you have access to the shotgun after using the shotgun code. It will make life much easier and allow you to deal a significant amount of damage to him.

You will need to expose his Source Point using your focused torch beam. It will be the empty cavity where his heart used to be and glow an eerie red.

Once you’ve hit it enough times, Nightingale will become more frantic with his attacks. He is trying to bludgeon you with a huge log, so make sure you time your dodges perfectly to avoid taking too much damage.

As the fight draws to a close, Nightingale will teleport around. Your biggest asset here is your torch. Even a brief flash can buy you a few precious seconds to fire a couple of shots.

After he has been shot enough times, he will eventually fall, and you will get the “Lawman” achievement, one of several trophies in Alan Wake 2.

That’s everything you need to beat Nightingale in Alan Wake 2. With his restless spirit put to rest, you should (hopefully) have an easier time of navigating the game. You should also check out how to manually save in Alan Wake 2, so you can delve deeper into the mystery.
